Costieres de Nimes, easternmost appellation of the Languedoc in Southern France was elevated from VDQS to AC status in 1986. It is effectively part of the Rhone since the climate, soil and topography are so similar to those just over the river in the southern Cotes-du-Rhone vineyards. The relatively uniform soils are marked by large pebbles on gentle, typically south-facing slopes. Chateau de Campuget is a splendid, top quality estate near Nimes with a long history. The secret of its success is its reliance on the best grapes - Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Marsanne and Roussane, planted in the stony soil, like that of the Rhone, which reflects the sun and enlivens the vines. In its cellar, tradition and progress unite to provide aroma, finesse and bouquet. Chateau de Campuget deploys a wide range of traditional Rhone cepage to produce full, easy and spicy wines.
